From Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950′s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt).
Jack finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick’s signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.
We trace the evolution of an eleven-year-old boy in the Midwest, Jack, one of three brothers. At first all seems marvelous to the child. He sees as his mother does, with the eyes of his soul. The first trailer for director Terrence Malick’s (The Thin Red Line, The New World) latest film, “The Tree of Life,” starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain has been released.The trailer doesn’t explain much, but looks pretty amazing. You will have to watch and judge for yourself. The synopsis is as follows:n a mystical world of folklore, several individuals embrace in a race to find the Tree of Life, said to give immortality, fertility, and other supernatural powers.

Terrence Malick’s fantastic looking “The Tree of Life”, the trailer (below) for which I still can’t get enough of, has released a second poster. If you haven’t indulged in the trailer for “Life”, I recommend giving it a try. It may not be for everyone, but you gotta admit, the guy’s got a way with words and visuals.
